Twitter Rolled Out New “Brand Pages” Competing With Facebook

Now Twitter too has its own Brand Pages. Isn’t that great? Earlier it was Google+ that had come up with special profiles for companies and brands and now its time for Twitter to make itself stronger and more competitive.

This Thursday, Twitter came up with a complete redesigning of its web and mobile apps and at the same time it brought out brand new “Brand Pages” that will enable the brand page owners to have a much better control on the content that they will offer through the page for the followers to see.

When Twitter’s new redesign was unveiled, the newly redesigned “Brand Pages” was also showed off by Adam Bain, the Chief Revenue Officer of Twitter.

Anyway, what’s so special about these new “Twitter Brand Pages”, didn’t the brands already had pages on Twitter? Yes, brands did have pages on Twitter but they were exactly the same as the profiles of the other users, with pretty less possibility of customization in their logo, bio, and even in the case of tweets.

Now, this special offer from Twitter has more opportunity for customization. Brand Pages will get the redesign that Twitter has brought out for the other profile pages; however there will be some added features for the brand pages.

These added features include – opportunity to customize the large header image which appears to be covering the entire page width and help the logo and company tagline to be displayed in much more pronounced way compared to what was offered by the pages in the past. Also, the Brands will get to “pin” up a tweet to their timeline’s top making it available with an expanded view of any multimedia present in it.

It is notable that the new features on these brand pages won’t require any special charges. And along with the above discussed features these pages offer possibility to separate the @replies and @mentions of the brand in order to help the brands offering customer service through their tweets.

Twitter announced on its advertising blog about 21 advertising partners to be participating in the venture,

“We are thrilled to launch the new enhanced profile page exclusively with 21 advertising partners and select charities and individuals. See how these brands are taking flight with their enhanced profile pages: @AmericanExpress, @BestBuy, @bing, @chevrolet, @CocaCola, @Dell, @DisneyPixar, @generalelectric, @Heineken, @HP, @intel, @JetBlue, @Kia, @McDonalds, @nikebasketball, @NYSE_Euronext, Paramount Pictures’ Mission: Impossible – @GhostProtocol, @pepsi, @Staples, @subwayfreshbuzz, and @VerizonWireless. You’ll need to use the new version of Twitter to see these enhanced profile pages.”

However, no confirmed dates were announced by Twitter on which these new “Brand Pages” will be available to other advertisers. It may take quite some time as Twitter believes in taking good amount of time and come up with best possible results.

Interestingly, Twitter didn’t say anything about its competition with Facebook but if it really has the competition in mind it needs to be aware that by simply offering customizable brand pages it won’t be successful in going above Facebook.
